Motorcycle Accident, Do’s and Dont’s
Transcription
If you ride a motorcycle, you know what it’s like to have the wind in your hair and you’re…the exhilaration, excitement, and just being out there enjoying life. Every once in a while, you get in an accident. And what do you do when you’re in a motorcycle accident? That’s what I wanted to talk about today. First of all, obviously, you need to make sure your health is okay. Get an ambulance to come and then also the police. The police will do a good investigation. And I know if you’re injured, it’s going to be kind of tough because some of these key things are going to be something that you’re going to need help with.
Obviously, you want to get all the witnesses in the accident to…you want to get their contact information, find out what they know, take pictures of the accident, especially where the bikes are, how they’re structured, how the accident happened. If you can get it where the vehicles are sitting once the accident happens before they got moved, those are helpful. If you can take a picture of the road to see what lane has the debris in it, those are the kinds of evidences that we need to make sure that we can prove your case. The more evidence you can collect, the more we can help you.
People just think, “Oh, every attorney is the same.” No, you need somebody that understands motorcycle accidents. Because, number one, most people think you’re at fault because you’re riding a motorcycle. They see these guys weave in and out of traffic. They see that they’re risk takers. Yeah, we are risk takers. We enjoy our riding, but 99% of us, we’re very careful drivers. So it’s the people that don’t see us is the problem. So you need somebody that can prove that. And these are the things we need to do in order to do that.
So witness statements. Witness contact information. Obviously, make sure that whoever’s at the scene, talk to the police because sometimes they don’t talk to the actual people that saw what happened. Get their phone number. And I know this is very difficult but take lots of pictures with your phone. Don’t admit fault to anybody. And, number one, don’t say that you’re sorry. That kind of shows that there’s some evidence of responsibility and we don’t want you to do that.
So, super critical, get all the information that you can. Give us a call as soon as you can. Lloyd Baker Injury Attorneys, we’re here for you. We’ve done thousands of accidents. We’ve helped lots and lots of people. And we just want to help you. And be safe out there as much as you can. But realize that sometimes bad things happen and we’re there for you.
